Call me a sucker but I love this holiday. I’m not shy about admitting I’m a needy girlfriend. If you follow me on twitter or instagram, you know this. To be fair, I have come a long way in controlling my urges. But Valentine’s Day… It’s the one day of the year where I can be as clingy and cake as I want and my boyfriend just has to take it.
I’m mostly kidding but also not really, HA! Back in the day, Grant (my boyfriend) and I used to do the MOST. Oversized boxes of chocolates, jewelry, an Xbox…
But in recent years all I really wanted was just to be with him. I would rather spend a day alone with him, eating junk food, never taking off our pajamas, and not trying to keep our hands off of each other.
So for gifts this year I got an adorable stuffed monkey that I have been clinging to non-stop, along with a bunch of bananas (not joking). I gave Grant homemade toothpaste made from all organic ingredients. We ate almost all of the bananas that day and also I tried his toothpaste and it tasted funny, like a sugar cookie.
We basked in the romance all morning long, until 2 or 3 in the afternoon when we went to a family dinner at my dad’s house. Family dinners are always an amazing way to spend a day. I get to see all of my siblings, my parents, my nieces and nephews. It’s just a day dedicated to bonding and joking and eating. Love.
What’s that game called where a hand crank throws whipped cream at your face? Well we played that (the shenanigans were posted on Snapchat: HannahGomez4) and watched a movie and ate dinner. I couldn’t eat much since I’m observing Lent and not eating animal products, but I still had my fill.
I dragged Grant back home to fulfill a promise that I had been looking forward to forEVER. I got Grant to take a bubble bath with me. He NEVER wants to take a bath so Valentine’s Day was the perfect opportunity to guilt him into it. Ha! We ended up staying in there for almost 2 hours, watching Bob’s Burgers and playing with bubbles.
All in all it was an amazing day. I don’t want to get all mushy (saving that for Friday’s post) but every year that passes, I adore him more.
forever his, Hannah
